PDO Thread Lift

None of us want to look as old as we actually are. Some of us even look older than our chronological age due to genetics, health conditions, smoking, excessive drinking or repeated unprotected sun damage. Whatever your reason for wanting to look younger, Bella Aesthetica MedSpa can help you look and feel better about yourself.

PDO Threads offer a way to combat the visible signs of aging. Aesthetic issues like wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin form when the skin begins to lose its elasticity and strength. This occurs naturally over time but can also occur prematurely in some individuals, which can cause them to look older than their actual age.

At Bella Aesthetica MedSpa, we have helped numerous patients rejuvenate the appearance of their face using PDO threads. Our goal is to provide each of our clients with customized results from their PDO Thread procedure that are natural-looking and long-lasting.

What Are PDO Threads

PDO Threads are made from Polydioxanone, a synthetic biodegradable polymer commonly used in surgery to close wounds. The material is safe to use, does not trigger allergic reactions, is not known to cause long-term issues, and can be safely fully absorbed by the body.

A PDO Threads is a revolutionary new treatment in the world of aesthetics, but PDO Threads themselves have been used safely for decades for various applications, like treating gynecological disorders or suturing incisions after medical procedures. When used as an aesthetic treatment, there are a few things you should know.

  • It mechanically results in instant skin lifting.
  • It contracts fat tissue to result in instant skin tightening.
  • It promotes collagen production and neovascularisation to renew your skin at the cellular level. All of this works together to give you enhanced skin texture, fewer fine lines and wrinkles and more elastic skin.

There are several types of PDO Threads, and each serves its own unique purpose. Depending on your aesthetic goals, your PDO provider may use one or many thread types during your anti-aging treatment.

There are two different types of PDO Threads and techniques.

Barbed Threads: These threads are used for some individuals depending on the desired outcome. These threads have tiny barbs on the entire length of the thread to gather tissue to lift the cheeks and sagging skin where the threads are placed. This technique produces a more dramatic and immediate result. The skin will then build new collagen which will secure the lift and give the lift a longer lasting result.

Smooth Threads: These threads are smaller than the barbed sutures and are smooth (no barbs on the thread). These threads are placed under the skin vertically and horizontally to create a “mesh”. This Mesh will serve as the foundation for new collagen production in the skin. The results appear naturally and gradually to improve fine lines and to firm the skin.

PDO Threads can be used to lift sagging skin as well as rejuvenate skin thanks to specific properties of the material. A PDO Thread Lift is an excellent option for individuals who are interested in facial rejuvenation but are not comfortable with a full facelift. These individuals desire more dramatic and longer-lasting results than are possible with dermal fillers and other non-surgical methods.

How Does A PDO Thread Lift Work?

No incisions are needed to perform a PDO thread lift. The PDO Threads are loaded into needles and inserted into the sub-dermal layers of the skin so that they run parallel with the layers of skin.

Any excess thread is trimmed and will not be visible once the procedure is complete. The injection process does not leave visible marks on the surface of the skin.

PDO Threads offer several different benefits. The threads provide immediate structure to the skin, lifting and smoothing out the skin as they are injected under the tissue. The threads also stimulate the production of collagen in the skin, which adds additional strength and tightens the skin. The threads do not trigger the formation of scar tissue once they are absorbed.

Threads can be injected into all the areas of the face where wrinkles, folds, and sagging are a concern, including the:

  • Eyebrows
  • Corners of the eyes
  • Cheeks
  • Undereyes
  • Mouth
  • Jawline
  • Neck
  • Nasolabial Folds

What To Expect – Results

Immediate results will be apparent from the actual lifting offered by inserting the threads. The additional skin rejuvenation provided by the procedure should start to come in about one to two months. The texture of the skin should be smoother, and the skin should feel firmer.

It will take around nine months for the threads to fully dissolve, but the results provided should extend beyond this time. Additional thread procedures can help to prolong your results.

What Is The Recovery Like After A PDO Thread Lift?

Pain can be usually managed with acetaminophen (Tylenol). You may have mild swelling and bruising for a few days. Icing the treated area, as well as Arnica is recommended for the first few days. We recommend avoiding strenuous activity for the first several days.

Is the Treatment Safe?

This treatment is completely safe. It is approved by the FDA for safety and efficiency. Moreover, hundreds of thousands of treatments have been performed and there are no reports of allergic reactions, sensitivities to the threads, or serious side effects or risks.

Which Treatments Complement A PDO Thread Lift?

The best complementary treatments to your PDO Thread Lift depend on the results you’re looking to achieve. If you are extremely concerned about lines and wrinkles exacerbated by facial motions, neuromodulators work best. If you’re more worried about static lines and wrinkles, dermal fillers are the perfect complement for your PDO Thread Lift.

What Are Neuromodulators and Dermal Fillers?

Neuromodulators

Neuromodulators are a type of injectable with the active ingredient botulinum toxin type A. Common examples include Dysport, Xeomin and Botox. Let us know during your initial consultation if you are planning on a treatment to complement your PDO Thread Lift. You can’t lie down for a couple hours after Botox to ensure the neurotoxin doesn’t spread outside the targeted area, so you will need to receive your PDO Thread Lift first.
